How Septic Systems Work

Understanding How a Septic System Works

Septic systems are essential for homes and businesses not connected to municipal sewer lines. These systems operate by treating and disposing of wastewater on-site. When you flush a toilet, run water in your sink, or take a shower, the wastewater flows into a septic tank buried in the ground. In the tank, solids settle to the bottom, forming sludge, while oils and grease float to the top as scum. The clarified water in the middle, known as effluent, then exits the tank and flows into the drain field, where it percolates through soil and is naturally purified. At A1 Honey Wagon Septic Service, we specialize in maintaining and servicing these systems, ensuring their seamless operation, protecting your property, and preserving the environment.
